Keith's new job! 👨‍💻 🎉

Keith is excited to start his new position of Team Lead II. 🥳 This is a lateral transfer from his prior position of Software Engineer II and it provides a path forward to a promotion to Engineering Manager.

Keith has been an engineer for basically all of his professional career. Keith started his career as an Electrical Engineer and eventually transitioned into Software Engineering. Keith loves engineering, technology, and project planning so he was excited when the opportunity came about to make the leap into project management.

This new role will be a big shift from his prior day-to-day responsibilities. Previously, Keith was responsible for implementing complex software features. Now, he will be responsible for determining what his team should be working on, how that workload should be distributed amongst his team members, and coordinating with other managers to ensure business needs are being met.

Celebration dinner 🍲 🥩

Of course, we had to celebrate Keith's new job. To celebrate, we headed to Oh! Shabu Shabu & BBQ in South Jordan, UT. Shabu Shabu is a buffet-style Chinese hotpot and barbecue restaurant where you cook the food yourself at your dining table. If you've never had a Chinese hotpot then you are seriously missing out! 😋 This location had an added surprise of a robot waiter who visited one of the dining tables.

We each ordered our flavor combinations for the hotpot broth. Keith went with the spicy/tonkatsu broth and Lindsey tried the miso/tonkatsu broth. We then ordered a delicious selection of meats for the hotpot and the cast-iron grill. Our favorites were the sweet and spicy beef bulgogi. The restaurant also offers a huge variety of seafood, assorted fish/meatballs, noodles, vegetables, and dipping sauces. It was so hard to pick and choose because it all looked so delicious.

We eventually had our fill but we couldn't leave without sampling some of the dessert selections. Lindsey went with a simple soft-serve cone and Keith sampled a mix of the available pudding, ice cream, and cookies. All in all, this was such a fun night out and a great way to celebrate Keith's new job.

Enjoying the Spring weather 🌼 ☕️

We have been taking advantage of the beautiful spring weather by taking walks around the neighborhood and enjoying some al fresco coffee spots. It won't be long before the temperatures start soaring and we are heading to the mountains in search of cooler weather.

Tour Divide training update 🏋️‍♂️ 😅

This week, Keith received something truly special in the mail... a photo collage of his friends and family all wearing a "Team Keith" shirt to show their support for his planned 2024 Tour Divide race attempt. It's truly wonderful to have so much love and support from our friends and family. 🥰 We want to say a special thank you to everyone that participated in this! Also, if Keith is unable to make the attempt this year, he plans use this photo as a reminder of the support pushing for him to try again next year.

Keith has been doing everything in his power to try to rehab his knee in time for the 2024 Tour Divide race. This includes staying off the bike completely until the he has completed all three rounds of his scheduled Shockwave Therapy treatments. Keith has now completed two of the three schedule shockwave rounds. One more to go!!!

The shockwave treatments are definitely helping but his knee is not fully healed yet. For now, Keith has been focusing on continued knee mobility and strengthening exercises. Keith has also returned to walking around our neighborhood to further improve his knee mobility. Keith is continuing to use KT tape to offload some of the pressure on the injured ligament. Hopefully the combination of downtime, strength training, and ligament support will allow him to heal in time. 🤞

Keith is trying to remain positive but it is getting more difficult to do so with each passing day. All we can do is hope and pray at this point. In the spirit of positive thought, Keith has started the necessary race prep work required on his bike. This includes a huge list of tasks including replacing bearing, replacing drivetrain components, a few shop service tasks, etc. These efforts will keep Keith busy and also ensure that his bike is ready should his body be ready in time for the race.

Upcoming posts and videos 👷‍ 👷‍♀️️

Lindsey is working her way through the series of posts covering our friend Yi's visit to Utah last summer. Be sure to subscribe to our blog so that you don't miss out. Keith has been extra-focused on recovery efforts so he is unsure when he will be able to work on any posts in the near term. 🥺
